FGM refers to partial or total removal or other injuries to the female genitalia for non-therapeutic reasons. FGM has several adverse effects, but despite its adverse effects, it is still widely practiced around the world. The prevalence in Somaliland is 98%. Many anti-FGM projects exit in Somaliland, but FGM practice is still rampant, and their effectiveness in mitigating FGM is not documented. This study examined the influence of FGM Projects on the prevalence of clitoridectomy, infibulation, excision and pricking, on a random sample of 372 households from February to March 2014. The study established that FGM projects have not significantly influenced the practice of clitoridectomy, 2 (2, N = 372) = .263, p = .877, = .027, but FGM projects have significantly influenced the practice of infibulation, 2 (2, N = 372) = 74.4, p = .000, = .447. Further, FGM projects have significantly influenced the practice of excision, 2 (4, N = 372) = 227.68, p = .000, =.782, but not the practice of pricking, 2 (2, N = 372) = .000, p = .921, = .000.
