The eternal existence of God belongs to the undisputed foundational elements of Christian theological reflection. There is dispute, however, regarding which conception of eternity is appropriate. Ever since Hegel's dialectical dynamization of the concept of God, it is no longer self-evident that eternal everlastingness necessarily implies the attribute of immutability. The emergence of process-theism and open-view-theism have raised the bar to a new standard, which contemporary theology dare not fail to meet: To responsibly conceptualize and convey the reality of God in ways that resonate with late-modern culture and the latest results of scientific research requires a fundamental reconsideration of all talk about the immutability of God. The authors of the present volume have stepped up to meet this challenge.
